He graduated from Alma High School in 1970 and served in the U.S Air Force from 1972 to 1976. Rick is a Vietnam Era Veteran. He attended Basic training at Lackland AFB in San Anatonia Texas, 3701 Squadron, Flight 0309 in the spring of 1972. Completed Inventory Management Specialist training at Lowery AFB, Denver Colorado in May and June then was assigned to the 97th Supply Squadron at Blytheville until his discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant in March of 1976. Rick then joined the Washington County Sheriff's Dept, Fayetteville Arkansas Feb 16, 1976 and retired in January 1991. During his service he worked mostly in investigation and at the time of his retirement he held the rank of Captain - Chief Investigator heading the Washington County Criminal Investigation Division. Rick then attended the Northwest Technical Institute, Springdale, Arkansas in 1991 and 1992 where he received a technical degree as a Computer Systems Analysis. Rick operated his own computer business from 1991 to 1995 when he and his wife and son Ryan opened an Internet business, The NET Connection, Inc.
While working as a Sheriff's Deputy, from 1980 to 1992, Rick and Renee' operated a photography business out of their home, taking weddings and portraits.
